ACTIVE REHAB
What is active rehab?
Active rehab = recovery workout + personal trainer. A registered kinesiologist will meet with you in a gym or your residence to help you complete a customized exercise program. After your injuries have had a chance to recover and benefit from physiotherapy treatments, active rehab is the “final lap” of your recovery. You’ll have a certified trainer with a full understanding of muscles and movement to coach you towards the finish line.
If you are one of our ICBC patients recovering from a motor vehicle accident, you will gradually require less hands-on treatment and will graduate to an all-expenses-paid exercise-based program. Strengthening those newly-healed muscles is vital to regaining your range of motion and a fuller quality of life!

Absolutely. Oftentimes your physiotherapist will recommend beginning an active rehab program after several physiotherapy sessions have assisted your injury recovery, and when you are ready for strengthening.
If you are seeing us 1-2x a week for physiotherapy, you may continue physiotherapy once a week while also incorporating active rehab sessions 1-2x a week as part of your recovery to full healing.
-
Under ICBC’s new Accident Benefits, you have full access to the health services you need to recover, and that includes registered massage, too. We can request treatment extensions for as long as you need.
-
ICBC patients are pre-approved for 12 active rehab sessions if their accident has occurred within the last 3 months. If your accident was more than 12 weeks ago, we can request a treatment extension from your claim adjuster. In some cases, ICBC covers a monthly gym/community centre pass.
